This time they travelled to Manchester with fellow MKUTA club members Alison, Arantxa, John Croucher and Claire to take part in the Kyorugi Corner Judge course for fighting competitions.
After a prompt 9.30am start the combined corner judge and center referee students were taken through the WTF Kyorugi Rule Book covering the all points relevant to corner judges. The was presented in the format of a PowerPoint presentation and practical demonstration. The course was run as an open session so questions could be asked at pertinent points and interaction between judges and referees was encouraged.
After a brief lunch break everyone reconvened to continue the course. During this session the aspects of the center referee which crossed over with corner judging were covered in detail including the issuing of warning and deduction points.
The corner judge (class 3) applicants then retired to the examination room to sit their written examination while the course instruction continued for center referees. Arantxa joined this examination, taking this as the first part of her center referee refresher course.
All the students reassembled for the Presentation of Certificates by the course leaders, Master Brian Tilley and Master Chris Codling.
All of the MKUTA students successfully received their certificates, Arantxa achieving an incredible 92%.
Well done to everyone.
